Catla (Labeo catla), (Bengali: কাতলা, romanized: kâtlâ) also known as the major South Asian carp, is an economically important South Asian freshwater fish in the carp family Cyprinidae. Catla is a surface and midwater feeder. The Catla fish is another mainstay of Bengal and Bihar. It is not as big as the ROH or eaten in as many dishes. But it is still very tasty; it's best when cooked in mustard oil.
